About

In A Week Productions

What it is

Show in a Week is an intensive educational theater initiative designed to provide regional high school students with the opportunity to confront and overcome a seemingly impossible challenge: rehearsing and presenting a full-scale musical production in just one week.

Program mission

During the second full week of May 2027, students from across the region will collaborate to rehearse and present three public performances of Mean Girls the Broadway musical. Participants develop confidence, resilience, adaptability, leadership, and collaborative problem-solving skills while discovering their own potential.

Our approach

Growth leads to success. Participants embrace challenges, view obstacles as opportunities, and work together using available resources to achieve a shared goal — with preparation, autonomy, community, and productive discomfort as tools for growth.

Why this matters

  • Build meaningful relationships across schools and communities
  • Develop self-confidence through achievement of a challenging goal
  • Learn to adapt to changing circumstances and solve problems creatively
  • Practice disciplined collaboration and accountability
  • Discover pathways to future educational, artistic, and professional opportunities

Guiding principles

  1. 01

Success = completing three performances of one full show, beginning to end

  2. 02

We are organized: proper preparation leads to confident delegation

  3. 03

If we haven't planned for it, we are not including it; however, we adapt in the face of changing circumstances

  4. 04

We work with the resources that already exist

  5. 05

We promote excitement in the face of challenge

  6. 06

Every problem is a bridge, not a barrier: “How can we solve that?”

  7. 07

    We develop problem solvers

  8. 08

We use energy appropriately and create energy in others

Community impact

Show in a Week serves participants, artists, and audiences by creating a quality theatrical experience while investing in the next generation of leaders, artists, educators, and engaged community members.
